How does an online fishing game work?
Fish swim across the screen and you fire a cannon at them. Each fish shows a multiplier — small fish pay low (for example 2×–5×), big fish and bosses pay much higher. Your cannon value is your bet per shot.
- Every shot costs your cannon value, hit or miss.
- When a shot "catches" a fish, you win cannon value × multiplier.
- Whether a hit catches the fish is decided by the game's RNG, weighted so that the overall return matches the game's RTP.
- Special weapons (bombs, lasers, drills) are features inside the same RTP, not free extras.
Many fishing rooms are multiplayer, but each player's catches are settled on their own bets.
How much does a fishing game cost per shot?
The game's info or help screen should show its RTP. The house edge is 100% minus RTP, applied to every shot fired. Example figures for illustration:
| Cannon value | Shots | Total wagered | Expected cost at 95% RTP | At 97% RTP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ₱1 | 500 | ₱500 | ₱25 | ₱15 |
| ₱5 | 500 | ₱2,500 | ₱125 | ₱75 |
| ₱10 | 1,000 | ₱10,000 | ₱500 | ₱300 |
We use 95% and 97% as illustrations only. Check the RTP shown inside the specific game.
What does 10 minutes of auto-fire really cost?
- Setup: ₱2 cannon, auto-fire at about two shots per second.
- Turnover: 2 shots × 60 seconds × 10 minutes = 1,200 shots = ₱2,400 wagered — from what felt like a "₱2 game".
- Expected cost at 95% RTP: ₱2,400 × 5% = ₱120 per 10 minutes, or about ₱720 an hour.
- Swings: a lucky boss catch at 100× pays ₱200 — nice, but it only covers 100 shots, less than a minute of auto-fire.
Ang lesson: sa fishing games, mas importante ang bilis ng putok kaysa sa laki ng cannon. Slow down and you control turnover.
Is a boss fish ever "almost dead"?
- "Malapit nang mamatay ang boss — tuloy lang." In RNG-settled fishing games, each hit is its own roll. A boss that has absorbed 200 shots usually isn't closer to dying than one you just started shooting. Check the game's help screen — if it doesn't say damage carries over, assume it doesn't.
- "Aim skill beats the house." Aim decides which fish you hit, but multipliers and capture chances are balanced so every target returns about the same RTP. Skill can save wasted shots; it can't flip the edge.
- "Upgrade the cannon after a loss." That's Martingale with bullets. Going ₱1 → ₱2 → ₱4 → ₱8 → ₱16 per shot multiplies turnover fast while the edge stays the same.
- "Another player stole my fish." Your bets are settled on your own shots; others don't change your odds.
